The engine behind Broughs Handwoven is the maker herself, Hana Brough. She’s something of a force of nature, handling everything from the weaving of the fabric to the sewing and finishing of all her homewares. The result is exquisite quality and immaculate attention to detail.
Everything happens in the evocative surroundings of Hana’s Northamptonshire studio. The Victorian building was once a dairy farm and has a traditional, rustic feel that perfectly connects with the time-honoured craft of hand weaving.
Hana Brough uses wool, cotton and linen yarns to create her refined fabrics. These soft natural fibres, along with distinctive geometric woven patterns, contribute texture to the finished items, making them irresistibly touchable.
This Broughs Handwoven collection has been designed and handwoven exclusively for Décoraii.
The creative process at Broughs Handwoven is guided by the character of the yarns and the contemporary colour combinations that are achieved by combining them. Cushions come in tonal shades of mist, slate and smoke, or combine earthy ochres with marine blues. Square and rectangular shapes in complementary hues can be piled up or casually scattered to create a warm and inviting feel.
Duck-feather inners, linen backings and handmade fringes are the finishing touches that make a cushion from Broughs something that will last – and be treasured – for a lifetime.
